Why your website gets visits but no leads

Lead generation
5 minute read
Traffic without enquiries usually comes down to five fixable problems. Here is how to find which ones apply to your site.
If people are visiting your website but your phone and inbox are quiet, the website is doing half its job. The good news is that the causes are rarely mysterious. In our experience they fall into five groups.
1. The page does not say what you do
Visitors decide in seconds whether they are in the right place. A headline like "Excellence in every solution" makes them work to find out. Say what you sell, who it is for and where you operate, in words your customer would use.
2. There is no obvious next step
Every page should end with one clear action: book a call, get a quote, join the waitlist, chat on WhatsApp. When there are six buttons of equal weight, or none at all, most people do nothing.
3. The form asks for too much
Each extra field costs you enquiries. Ask only for what you need to reply. The Liddsecure waitlist we built asks for an email address and nothing else, because that is all it needs.
4. Visitors cannot see the price or the process
Buyers want to know roughly what they will pay and what happens after they get in touch. Even a range, a calculator or a three-step process removes the fear of the unknown. The finance calculator on the HCN Autos site exists for exactly this reason.
5. Nobody trusts it yet
Work samples, client names, real photos, a physical address and official contact channels all reduce doubt. In markets where impersonation scams are common, listing your official channels is not a detail. It is part of the sale.
Measure before you redesign
- Set up conversion tracking so you know how many visits turn into enquiries today.
- Watch recordings or heatmaps of real sessions to see where people stop.
- Fix the biggest drop-off first, then measure again.
Small changes to headlines, calls to action and forms often move results more than a full redesign. When they do not, that is a good sign the site needs to be rebuilt around the customer rather than patched.
